Aren't these cute?

Just after Christmas I was walking through a local shopping centre and found these pincushions at a little stall for a charity. They had them all set up on a tiered cake stand and they looked so cute. The base is china which makes them very stable, and they are stuffed nice and hard which is something I find hard to do with pincushions. ( I always seem to make them lumpy and lopsided). I gave the purple one to my step daughter for her birthday and I noticed the other day that it is in her kitchen in front of her recipe books rather than with her sewing machine. It makes a cute display.
I think it is a lovely idea for a gift. I saw some bright silicone cupcake moulds at a shop the other day which could make some really funky ones.
Almost too nice to use..... ( now I sound like my mother, arrgh)

Almost done

I seem to have been working on this one for a little while but it is almost finished. The two photos here are showing where I was working on the last borders ( they are not actually sewn on here) It just goes to show how versatile this pattern is! I ended up putting the red triangles to the outside because I am going to bind it with red but I think the other version looks good too.

And to show you a finished one ( which I would love to claim as mine) Here's one my friend Dianne made. I think that it is such a fun pattern. I have some HST's left over so I think I might do one this way as well. I still have 10 months to go before Christmas....
Thank you Marcie for such a great pattern.

The little things add up...

No excuses made..... life has just been busy. January has seen my step daughter's 30th birthday (and party) and the kids going back to school. February has been about my son getting his wisdom teeth out, my husband hurting his back, my monitor blowing up ( which means using an ancient one I have here) and my birthday. I have a few posts to make to catch up which I aim to do over the next week. I should have enough to make one a day for a while - I think that it is an achievable goal.
I got a new camera for my birthday too - the photo above is from my old camera which still is a very useful one considering its size and ease of use. So it will be nice to have some new photos to post as well - when I work out how to get them on to the computer from the camera!
