Last month a local quilt shop was closing down (everything at 50% - too good to resist) and my friend Dianne found some lovely batiks. She decided to use them to make this lovely quilt for a 21st birthday present. The pattern is here, and I think she made it bigger but I can't quite remember how many extra fat quarters she used. It really has turned out brilliantly and the girl who received it just loves it - and I can certainly understand why.

Dianne said... I used 16 fat quarters to make the 16 blocks. Quilt measures 64" square. Some of my fabrics were yardages so I cut a 6 1/2" strip the just one rectangle 10 1/2" by 4 1/2" to make the five pieces needed for each block. Once done just a jumble around and it is very effective and simple (read quick) to sew together. Hope that explains a little more.
I love that, perfect for a 21st...and the extra instructions were good, Dianne, Tracey
50% off everything???? how cool is that? What a great quilt!
Was the shop that was closing in Geebung, Brisbane? Just curious
Lovely quilt. Am going to do it myself.
It is beautiful. And the fact that you got the fabric at 50% is such a wonderful bonus. I keep telling myself I should save up for going out of business sales. I hate that a business is going, but I do need the money to take advantage of the opportunity.
Wow, really lovely! Who wouldn't want to curl up under a batik quilt?
I'm in the Booty Swap, too, and am trying to visit everyone's blog to say hello and see what people are up to! Have fun!
oh it is lovely!!!
